I located obituaries for James Harper and his wife, Gladys (Grimm) Harper.

February 19, 1899 --- December 8, 1972

James M. Harper, 73, died today at a Wellman nursing home following a long illness. Services are set for 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Powell Funeral Home in Wellman, the Rev. Leland Grove officiating. Burial will be at the Salem Iowa cemetery. Mr. Harper was born Feb. 19, 1899 in Muscatine county, the son of Robert and Ellen Tookey Harper. He was married to Florence Mahoney, who preceded him in death in 1923 and was married to Gladys Grimm in July 1953. His wife survives him.

Gladys Harper, 76, of Pleasant Park Nursing Home died Monday, Sept. 3, 1984 at the Mahaska County Hospital. She was born April 28, 1908 in Marshalltown, the daughter of Roy and Nettie Briggs Grimm. She was married to James Harper in July of 1953. He preceded her in death on Dec. 8, 1972. There are no immediate survivors. Graveside services were held Wednesday morning at Salem East Cemetery in Salem.
