According to an 1858 map in the History of Henry County, Iowa published in 1982, Tippecanoe Township is where the cities of Rome, Ketcham, Oakland Mills, and Denova were located. Salem Township lies to the South, Trenton Township lies to the North, and Center Township is to the East. The western boundary of the township adjoins Jefferson County, Iowa.
