PETERSON

I am tracing the ancestry of my great-great grandparents John and Carolyn Peterson. Their youngest daughter was born on June 17, 1876 in Mt Pleasant, IA. Iowa and Mt Pleasant appears in several official documents for her. Even her next oldest brother's obituary mentions Mt Pleasant, IA as his birth place. While that is not true the fact remains that Henry County and Mt Pleasant appear frequently enough in the family records that the location made an impact on the family history, despite the fact that the family moved to Wisconsin a few years after Amanda's birth.
Unfortunately Amanda was born before 1880 so it appears her birth was not officially recorded (I have checked in Des Moines).
I can not be sure that I can find the family in the 1880 US Census, Peterson is a too common surname, but the clues lead me to believe they had left Henry County prior to that Census recording.
I have found records that indicate they immigrated from Sweden in 1874. I have yet to confirm their passage on any ship manifest. If that is the correct year, John and Carolyn would have had an infant son when they came across. That leads me to wonder if they had a connection to Henry County prior to immigrating.
I am looking for someone to help me do a thorough research of local "archives" looking for any sign of the Peterson family. I am willing to pay for this assistance. Please feel free to contact me for more information or direction.
