Do you have a whispered tale in your family about a great-great uncle who had a mystery child out of wedlock? The story is this. On 14 Dec. 1891, Anna Maud Joy was born to Rossie Bell Joy of Salem. The tale handed down in the family is that the father was the son of a well-to-do family. He was home on break from college when he got her pregnant. His family considered Rossie Bell beneath him, so they didn't allow him to marry her. Supposedly, they had an attorney draw up an agreement where they would pay child support for the child as long as Rossie never told anyone who the father was, which she apparently never did. She later married Grant Corsbie. Its also said that the red hair in the family came from this mystery man. Does this story sound familar to anybody?
