Bennie E. Miller, 92, a retired Washington-area farmer, died Monday, March 31, 1966 at Parkview Manor nursing home in Wayland. He had been in failing health the past week. Services will be at 2 PM Thursday at Jones Funeral Home in Washington with the Rev. Walter Phelps officiating. Burial will be in Elm Grove Cemetery. Visitation begins at noon Wednesday at the funeral home where the family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 PM Wednesday. Military rites will be conducted at graveside by the American Legion Post.

Mr. Miller was born April 25, 1893 in Thurman, Colorado, a son of Ben R. and Mary Eicher Miller. He grew up in the Crawfordsville area and married Zella Mae Schafer on Jan 1, 1923 in Burlington. She preceded him in death on March 24, 1978. Mr. Miller had lived in Washington (Iowa) since 1937 and the past two years at Parkview in Wayland. He did custom bailing work in his earlier years and also farmed on the northeast edge of Washington. He was a veteran of World War I and a member of the American Legion and a past member of the Moose Lodge.

Survivors include: three sons, George B. of Washington, Richard of Wenatchee, Washington, and Duayne of Muscatine; a daughter, Mrs. Darlene J. Linds of Englewood, Colorado; 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by five br others and six sisters.
