Michael Kelly
Michael Troy Kelly, 53, of New London, died at 9:20 p.m. Thursday, July 10, 2003, at Henry County Health Center in Mount Pleasant.
Born Oct. 14, 1949, in Burlington, he was the son of Patrick Troy and Loyce Smoot Kelly. On Aug. 15, 1970, he married Julia Kay Fullerton in Danville.
Mr. Kelly was a truck driver for Wal-Mart for 17 years. He also farmed.
He was a 1968 graduate of Mount Pleasant High School and attended Southeastern Community College. He was a member of Harmony Bible Church, where he was an elder and deacon. He was on the Eastern Iowa Bible Camp board of directors and a member of New London Wrestling Boosters. He enjoyed gardening, wrestling, old tractors, auctions and working at camp. He hosted the annual hayride-chili dump. He was a Vietnam War Seabee veteran, serving from 1968 to 1970.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Timothy Troy Kelly of Mount Pleasant and Andrew Michael Kelly of New London; three daughters, Rebekah Kay Beekman of Mediapolis and Sarah Renee Berberich and Joy Kathleen Kelly, both of New London; three grandchildren; his mother and stepfather, Loyce and Harvey Jeffrey of New London; two sisters, Karen Brimhall of Mount Pleasant and Candace Huber of Danville; one brother, O. Brien Kelly of Washington; nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Visitation will begin at noon today at Harmony Bible Church in Danville, where the family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m.
The funeral for Mr. Kelly will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Harmony Bible Church, with the Rev. Mark Connelly officiating. Burial will be in Jaggar Cemetery in Danville.
Memorials have been established for Harmony Bible Church and East Iowa Bible Camp.
Elliott Chapel in New London is in charge of arrangements.
