Lucille Kathryn Williams, 89, of Mount Pleasant, died at 3:53 a.m. Monday, Oct. 24, 2005, at Henry County Health Center in Mount Pleasant.
Born Sept. 7, 1916, in Mount Pleasant, she was the daughter of Frank and Elsie Viola Carpenter Wellington. On Nov. 2, 1941, she married Ronald Newton "Newt" Williams in Kahoka, Mo. He died Nov. 2, 1952.
Mrs. Williams was the bookkeeper for the former Hall & Weir Lumber Co. of Mount Pleasant for 10 years. She worked for the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant for two years and was bookkeeper for the former Beaver's Food Mart in Mount Pleasant for 16 years until retiring.
She was a graduate of Mount Pleasant High School. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Mount Pleasant. She enjoyed gardening, both vegetable and flower, and derived great satisfaction in canning produce. She also was devoted to the Holy Scriptures and read her Bible daily.
Survivors include one son, Rick of Mount Pleasant; one brother, Glenn Glover of Mount Pleasant; one sister, Yeoland Butler of Mount Pleasant; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, six brothers and one sister.
Visitation will be from noon to 9 p.m. today at Weir & Kimzey Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant, where the family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m.
The funeral for Mrs. Williams will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Weir & Kimzey Funeral Home, with the Rev. Hank Ledbetter officiating. Burial will be in Forest Home Cemetery in Mount Pleasant
