James W. Willey
James W. Willey, 49, of Salem, died at 9:10 p.m. Wednesday, July 23, at the University Hospitals, Iowa City.
Born Dec. 7, 1936, at Iowa City, he was the son of Frank and Evalyn Hoskins Willey. He married Leota Keck Jan. 17, 1958, at Fairfield.
He was the captain of the correctional officers of the Mount Pleasant Medium Security Unit. He served in the Korean conflict and was a member of the Salem American Legion.
Surviving are his wife, Salem; his parents, Fairfield; three daughters, Mrs. Brenda Rich, Mount Pleasant; Rhonda Willey, Fort Madison, Joyce Willey, Salem; three brothers, Harold, Arlington, Ind.; Carl, San Francisco, Calif; and Steven, Ottumwa; three sisters, Mrs. Linda St. Clair and Mrs. Sandra St. Clair, both of Montrose, and Pam Neeley , San Francisco, Calif.; his grandmother, Nellie Willey, New London; and two grandsons.
The family will receive friends from 7-8:30 p.m. Friday at the Beatty-Wilkins Funeral Home, Mount Pleasant.
Services for Mr. Willey will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Salem Friends Church with the Rev. Wayne Conant officiating. Burial with full military rites will be in Salem East Cemetery.
A memorial has been established.
