Floyd E. Reschly, 85, of Olds died at 4:40 P.M. Saturday October 3, 1998 at the Henry County Health Center. Memorial services will be Tuesday October 6. A private burial will be at 1:30 P.M. A public service will begin at 2 P.M. at the Sugar Creek Mennonite Church with the Rev. Ruben Chupp officiating. Visitation began at noon Monday at the Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel in Mt. Pleasant with family present from 6 to 8:30 P.M. Memorials have been established to the Olds First Responders and Sugar Creek Parking Lot Paving Fund.

Mr. Reschly was born November 22, 1912 in Wayland, the son of William and Katie Swartzendruber Reschly. He married Hazel M. Richard on November 24, 1938. She died September 22, 1984. He married Clara Cannon on January 11, 1987 in Austin, Texas. Mr. Reschly was a lifelong carpenter. He was still involved with his son's business, Reschly Construction of Olds. He was a member of the Sugar Creek Mennonite Church.

Mr. Reschly volunteered with the Crowded Closet and Habitat for Humanity. He also did volunteer work for the Mennonite Disaster Service and Rio Grand Bible Institute of Edinburg, Texas.

Survivors include his wife, two sons, Kenneth of Olds and Richard of Syracuse, Indiana, two daughters Ruth Ann Miller of Grapevine, Texas and Barbara King of Carrollton, Texas; two step-children, Max Cannon of Des Moines and Lynn Rew of Austin, Texas; one brother, Ralph, of Mt. Union; two sisters, Edna Roth of Olds and Irene Pankoke of Winfield; seven grandchildren, four step-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, Hazel, he was preceded in death by his parents, son, Edward, brother, Harold; and sister, Ruth Kauffman.
