Ray George Rich, 81, a retired Wayland and Trenton area farmer died unexpectedly March 17, 1984 at his Maple Leaf apartment here. Funeral services will be Tuesday, 10:30 A.M. in the Beatty Funeral Home, Mt. Pleasant. The Rev. William Long of Burlington and the Rev. Richard Dunn of New Life Parish of Wayland will officiate. Burial will be in Greenmound Cemetery. Visitation will be from 7 to 8 P.M. tonight at the funeral home. A memorial has been established to benefit the cemetery.

Mr. Rich was born February 28, 1903 near Wayland, the son of David and Naomi Kinney Rich. On Dec. 18, 1924 he married Imal Mae Norton at Mt. Pleasant. They farmed in the Wayland and Trenton area before retiring and moving to Mt. Pleasant.

Mr. Rich was a member of the Cottonwood United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Imal Mae; daughters, Wanda (Mrs. James) Hatch and Merna (Mrs. Charles) Simmons and son Melvin, all of Mt. Pleasant; and daughter Ardith (Mrs. Thomas) Rump, Ft. Madison; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and seven sisters, Mina Holt, Fairfield; Lola Bower, Washington; Velma Messer, Georgia Imhoff, Freda Sinn and Minnie Peterson all of Wayland; and Ada Kindig, Mt. Pleasant. He was preceded in death by an infant daughter and three brothers.
