Espey J. Schroll, 85, Route 1 Wayland, died Tuesday, May 15, 1984 at 11:48 P.M. at the Henry County Health Center.

He was born May 10, 1899 at Syracuse, Kansas, the son of John and Nellie Bain Schroll. On April 1, 1923 at Wayland, he married Bernice Miller.

Mr. Schroll, a lifetime resident of the Wayland community, was a retired farmer.

Surviving are his wife, three daughters, Mrs. Laverne (Elizabeth) Graber, Wayland; Mrs. Harold (Evelyn) Troyer, Blue Grass; and Mrs. Gary (Kathryn) LaBounty, Harker Heights, Texas; one brother, Alfred, Ottumwa; three sisters, Mrs. Goldie Christner, Wayland; Mrs. Emma Allender and Mrs. Nellie Vandersnick both of Mt. Pleasant; 17 grandchildren; and 21 great grandchildren. His parents and a son, Richard, preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be held Saturday May 19 at 11 A.M. at the Wayland Mennonite Church. The Rev. Doug Reichenbach will officiate with interment in the North Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 7:30 to 9 P.M. Friday at the Beatty Funeral Home, Wayland. Memorials have been established for the North Hill Cemetery or the Wayland Mennonite Church.
