John Schadt 1843 - 1912

Wayland News, Wed. Nov. 13, 1912:

Mr. John Schadt, living several miles southeast of Trenton, died
last Monday afternoon, November 4, 1912, after an illness of several
months. He was born in Lee county, this state on July 4, 1843, thus
being 69 years and 4 months old at the time of his death. Mr. Schadt
had lived in Henry county since 1868 and was widely known. He was twice
married. On April 2, 1868, he was married to Miss Mary Hochstetler, to
which marriage were born six children of which three are still living.
They are Lena, who is Mrs. Irvin Finley, John and Dan. His first wife
died on August 20, 1881. On February 14, 1884, he was married to Miss
Sophie Ensminger, who with the seven children born to this union, Edd,
Frank, William, Jessie, Ida, Annie and Mrs. Frank Schlarbaum, survive
him. He had been brought up in the Amish Mennonite church. The funeral
was held on November 7, and interment at the Green Mound cemetery. It
was probably one of the largest attended funerals held at Green Mound.
The services were conducted by Rev. S. M. Musselman.
