The memorial service for Mrs. C. A. Newburg was held at the Cookes Funeral Home Tuesday afternoon at 2:00. Dr. George G. Hunt was assisted by Rev. Frederic A. McNeil. Mrs. Stanley B. Niles and Mrs. Will McClaran sang and Mrs. Max Stein played the organ.

Pallbearers were Edward Scott, Walter Scott, Verne Wright, Merton Wright, Clarence Farman and Charles Kinney. Burial was in the Pleasant Point cemetery.

Annie Myrtle, the tenth child of James Henry and Mary Jane Burks Harshbarger, was born on the old homestead, two miles southwest of Oakland Mills, on July 2, 1878, and passed from this life in Mt. Pleasant after several months of declining health, Sunday, May 23, 1948.

She grew to young womanhood in her native community and attended the public schools. On October 19, 1902, she became the bride of Conrad A. Newburg, who had grown to maturity in the same neighborhood. The following 34 years they lived on a farm near their childhood homes. A few years ago they came to Mt. Pleasant.

Mrs. Newburg is survived by her husband of Mt. Pleasant; four children: Marie McCoy of Mt. Pleasant, Conreda Ford of Columbus Junction, Margaret King of Oak Ridge, Tenn., and James A. Newburg of Des Moines. Other survivors are eight grandchildren, and two brothers: Martin Harshbarger of Mt. Pleasant and Mahlon Harshbarger, Campbellton, Florida.

Mrs. Newburg was reared in the Friends' faith and in 1924 united with the First Methodist church, Mt. Pleasant, where she held membership at the time of her death.
