Mrs. Sarah E. Babcock Dead
~
Mt. Pleasant, Jan. 14 – Mrs. Sarah E. Babcock died yesterday morning about two o’clock at her home on East Monroe Street, after having been sick for several weeks. The funeral will be held Sunday afternoon from the late home and will be conducted by Rev. H. J. Hinman, pastor of the Congregational Church. Mrs. Babcock was about 65 years of age, and she and her husband were pioneer residents of this city. They built the old Babcock home on East Washington Street and occupied it together until his death a few years ago, when she continued to live there with her sister, Miss Margaret Barnes, until about a year ago when they moved closer to town. She had lived there forty eight years and mostly of the time in the one place. She was a faithful member of the Congregational Church and club, and only Thursday sent words of good cheer to the club which met with Mrs. J. E Carter.
