J.W. Austad Taken By Death
Joseph Wilhelm Austad for many years the engineer at the Mental Health Institute died at the Henry County Memorial hospital at 6:10 p.m. Thursday, September 20. He became ill August 10th.
He was the son of Paulina and John Hannes[sic] Austad of Norway. He was born April 4, 1886, and passed away at the age of 70 years.
He was the husband of Bertha Heins Austad who survives. They were the parents of John Henry Austad who died in 1948, Carol Olive Fay of Waterloo and Betty Loraine Rideout of Redwood City, Calif. Also left are five grandchildren and the following brothers and sisters: Carl Julius Austad, Albert Ingeman Austad, Clarence Melvin Austad, and George Tieman Austad, Harriet Regina Hamel, Clara Amelia Swenson and Alice Louise Austad. Two brothers, John Paul Austad and Gustave Austad are deceased.
Services will be held at the Cookes Funeral Home Sunday, September 23, at 2:30 p.m. Interment at St. Alphonsus cemetery.
Friends may call at the Cookes Funeral Home from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday.
