Emma C. Kurtz, 84, died at 8:30 p.m. Sunday at the Parkview Care Center.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in East Pleasant Plain with the Rev. Nick Adam officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery.

Prayers for a Christian Wake will be held at the Raymond Funeral Home at 8 p.m. Tuesday.

Emma C. Kurtz was born June 11, 1898, near Wayland. She was the daughter of Robert and Marie Huber Ledger.

Her marriage to Gerald A. Kurtz took place Jan. 27, 1925, in East Pleasant Plan. They lived in East Pleasant Plain until 1940 when they moved to the Packwood Community.

She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and had been a patient at Parkview Care Center for 14 years. Her husband preceded her in death Dec. 3, 1964.

Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Stanley Ward, Ottumwa; a son, Herman Kurtz, Packwood; 14 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and a sister, Elsie Kessel, Richland.
