Sarah A. Wolford was born in Union County, Ohio, September 20, 1844, and came to Iowa with her parents at an early day. She was converted at the age of eleven years and united with the Baptist church one mile north of Finley Chapel. Later she joined the Methodist Episcopal church of which she remained a consistent member until her Lord called her Home.

She was united in holy matrimony to Joseph Schrock on the 24th of February, 1870, a soldier of his country, and enlisted with his Christian companion in the service of his King in 1895. Of this union two children were born: William H. who lives in Wayland, and cared for his mother as long as human hands could help, and Celia, who preceded the other members of the family to the better land in 1885 when with her father who joined her in 1897, they together welcomed the wife and mother September 29, 1906. Leaving to cherish her memory one son, his wife, and their son age 10 years, one sister in Nevada, Missouri, one sister in Pittsburg, Oregon, one brother in Idaho and a host of relatives and neighbors and acquaintances.

The funeral was held Sunday, September 30th at 2:30 P.M. at the church where she had labored so faithfully, where she had rejoiced her Soul in the Sweet Communion, Solemn Vow, the hymns of Love and Praise. The text was a tribute to the life. “Be thou faithful until death, and I will give thee a crown of life”, Rev. 2:10. The funeral was conducted by her pastor assisted by the presiding elder, Rev. T. J. Myers. A large concourse of people, members of the church and Sunday School, gathered to pay their last respects to her who had served so faithfully. “Servant of God, well done! Thy glorious warfare past. The battles fought, the race is won, and thou art crowned at last:.
