+++Funeral services were held at the Universalist church Sunday for Mrs. Martha Davenport, who died at her home in Butte, Mont., last week, and whose body was brought here for burial. Mrs. Davenport was formerly a teacher in the Mt. Pleasant schools, and a prominent figure in early Iowa history, being at one time a platform lecturer on women's suffrage and temperance, and state secretary of the W.C.T.U. Mr. Davenport was formerly a lawyer in Mt. Pleasant, and the family removed to Butte, Mont., about 1918, where their son lived. Mrs. Davenport was 86 years old, her family being one of Mt. Pleasant's pioneer families. Rev. Laura B. Galer conducted the services, and Mrs. H. G. Wilkins and Miss Ruth Allanson of Chicago sang sacred songs. Following the services the body was interred in the family burial plot at Forest Home cemetery. Messrs. Ed Lines, V.D. Morris, Wm. Evans, Geo. Crane, J.M. Burd and Arthur Wallbank were the pall bearers.
