ANOTHER DEATH.
Mr. Edward Watters, A Respected Citizen, Passes Away.
Had Been Sick for Many Months, and Death was Expected - Had Been Suffering for a Number of Years - Details of Death. The death of Mr. Edward Watters occurred Friday evening at his home, in the north part of the city, after a lingering illness of several months.
Mr. Watters had been in poor health for a period of four years, and a few months ago was compelled to give up his strenuous farm life, when he moved to the city. Since that time his health failed gradually. Although his death was sudden, it was not unexpected, as his condition had been critical for several weeks. His children who live at a distance were summoned home a few weeks ago, but as he seemed better, the children returned to their homes.
Yesterday seemed to be an unusually bright day for him and he ate a hearty dinner. At six o'clock he had a sudden attack of heart failure and died in a short while. Mr. Watters was afflicted with dropsy and heart trouble.
Mr. Watters was born in Dundalk, Ireland, in 1830. At the age of eighteen years he came to America. He has spent four years in the government navy and one year in the 4th Iowa Cavalry. He came to Mt. Pleasant and in June 1856 was married to Roanna [sic:Rosanna] McGuire. The greater part of the remainder of his life was spent on his farm near Ketcham's ferry.
He is survived by his widow and ten children, this being the first break in the family.
The children are as follows: Mrs. Anna Van Allen of this city, Mrs. J.F. Walker of Canaan twp; Mrs. Ed Loving of this city, Wm. F. of Butte, Mont; Miss Elizabth of Colorado, Springs; John, Miss Francis and Miss Emma of this city, Thos F. of Rome and Edward Jr. of Fairfield.
