OBITUARY OF J.H. OLNEY
James Henry Olney was born at Dudley, Iowa, May 6, 1854 and passed away at his home in Eddyville March 29, 1932 at the age of 77 years.
When a boy, he was converted and for many years was an active member of the Columbia Methodist Episcopal church, but in 1929 he transferred his membership to the Eddyville Methodist church when they moved there to make his home. He was a loyal and untiring worker for his Master, always ready to do his part. He especially endeared himself to the church school children, who considered him a true friend.
In his passing not only the church, but the community has lost a highly esteemed citizen.
On July 17, 1918 he was married to Mrs. Neva Canfield, who with a daughter, Mrs. A.M. Van Allen, four grandsons of Mt. Pleasant; one sister, Mrs. J.R. Stodghill, and a brother, Chas. W. Olney of Dudley, and a host of other relatives and friends are left to mourn their loss.
Short services were held from his late home Thursday afternoon. Funeral services were held from Columbia church at 2 o'clock. His pastor, Rev. J.C. Bruvold, officiated, assisted by Rev. C.R. Rowe. Interment was made in Columbia cemetery.
