Ethel Prottsman
Ethel Pauline Prottsman, 75, of New London, died at 2:59 p.m. Monday, Dec. 4, 2000, at Great River Medical Center in West Burlington.
Born Oct. 6, 1925, in Lee County, she was the daughter of Ralph and Emogene Johnson Heaton. She married Dale Vern Prottsman on Aug. 5, 1946, in New London. He died March 2, 1992.
Mrs. Prottsman was a 1943 graduate of Donnellson High School and a 1947 graduate of Western Illinois University.
She was a junior high school teacher for New London Community Schools for 20 years, retiring in 1988.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church of New London and enjoyed crocheting, reading and traveling.
Survivors include two sons, Jerry Prottsman of New London and Jon Prottsman of Victor; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, one son, one daughter and one brother.
Visitation will begin at noon today at Elliott Chapel in New London, where the family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
The funeral for Mrs. Prottsman will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Elliott Chapel, with Pastor Matt Miller officiating.
Burial will be in Burge Cemetery, New London.
