MRS. LAWLER DIES
PASSES AWAY AT MT. PLEASANT OF APOPLEXY-FORMER OTTUMWAN.
Mrs. Margaret Lawler, until two years ago, a resident of Ottumwa, died at her home in Mt. Pleasant, Saturday night at 10:30 as the result of an attack of apoplexy. Mrs. Lawler had been ailing since the death of her husband, which occurred in that city three years ago. She was well known in Ottumwa, and while a resident of this city, had made a host of friends who will be shocked upon learning of her death. Two daughters, Mrs. Henry Ennis and Miss Anna Lawler reside here. The other survivors are three sons, Frank, Daniel and Edward and a daughter, Miss Mary of Mt. Pleasant; two sisters, Mrs. Charles Cobb of Aurora, Ill., and Mrs. Ed. Bogardus of New Jersey also survive.
The sudden attack causing the death of Mrs. Lawler is supposed to have been due to the announcement of the death of her sister-in-law, Mrs. John Slattery, who died near Mt. Pleasant at 6:30 Saturday evening.
Mrs. Slattery is the sister of Dan Lawler, Master Carpenter of the Burlington railroad at Ottumwa, who left for Mt. Pleasant Saturday evening on hearing of the death. Mrs. Slattery was 50 years of age and her death came after a lingering illness. The double funeral will be held tomorrow from St. Alphonsus church at Mt. Pleasant. Interment in Catholic cemetery.
