AGED RESIDENT PASSES AWAY
MRS. NORA O'CONNER DIED AT HOME OF SON WEDNESDAY.
Was Ninety Years of Age and Had Lived in Mt. Pleasant More Than Fifty Years-Funeral Friday Morning.
Mrs. Nora O'Conner, one of the oldest residents of Henry county, died Wednesday about noon, after several months' illness. Death took place at the home of her son, John O'Conner, who lives about two miles south of town. She had made her home with him since her husband, the late Patrick O'Conner, died eight years ago.
Mrs. O'Conner was ninety years of age, and last May fell and broke her hip. On account of her advanced age and her feeble condition, it was thought best not to set the bone, and it was never done. She has never been able to leave her bed since the accident happened, the injury greatly weakening her, causing a sort of blood poison, which effected her entire body. She suffered much at times and her condition has been considered serious for a long time, death being expected at almost any time.
She was born in County Kerry, Ireland, and came to this country when quite young, settling first in [sic: Connecticut?] Kentucky. Here she was married, and came to Iowa fifty or sixty years ago, living in Mt. Pleasant and vicinity the greater part of that time.
She is survived by three sons, - William O'Connor of this city, John O'Conner, who lives two miles south of town, and Mike O'Conner, who is at [sic] La Crutes, New Mexico.
The funeral service will be held from the St. Alphonsus' Catholic church Friday morning at 8 o'clock. Interment in the Catholic cemetery.
