Kenneth K. Krabill

Kenneth K. Krabill, 70, of Mount Pleasant, died Thursday, Nov. 14, 2013, at Great River Hospice House in West Burlington.

A funeral is at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Faith Lutheran Church, where the family will receive friends from 4-7 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Great River Hospice House, Faith Lutheran Church or Teen Challenge of the Midlands.

Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel of Mount Pleasant is assisting the family with the arrangements.

Mr. Krabill was born Jan. 14, 1943, in rural Henry County, the son of Emerson L. and Alta R. Christner Krabill. He married Carolyn R. Alvine June 4, 1977, on Emerson's farm in Henry County.

He was a 1961 Mount Pleasant Community High School graduate.

He joined the Iowa Army National Guard after high school.

He graduated from Iowa Wesleyan College in 1988, with bachelor of arts degree in business.

He was involved with the Iowa Army National Guard for 27 years. He was the unit administrator of 224th Engineer Battalion, Company D in Mount Pleasant. By the time of his retirement, in 1988, he had obtained the rank of first sergeant, E8 and was an enlisted Army National Guard Lifetime member.

He served eight years as Henry County Sheriff and eight years as a deputy. He retired from Law enforcement in 2005.

He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church where he served as president of the church board.

He was past president of the Mount Pleasant Lions Club, and was past president of the Henry County Credit Union. He was a member of AM Vets, Disabled American Veterans, American Legion Post No. 58 and VFW Post No. 2561.

He was a Red Power Association member and was vicepresident of White Oak Cemetery.

He was a coin collector and enjoyed car rides with his family, often to try-out a recommended restaurant.

As a young man, he had his pilot's license and enjoyed and appreciated the time in the air.

He loved to spend time at the family farm and was especially proud of his W6 1950 show tractor.

Survivors include his wife, Carolyn; onw daughter, Rebecca Marie Reimer and spouse Robert of New River, Ariz.; one son, Theodore Emerson Krabill and spouse Shantell of Parnell; two brothers, Larry Krabill of Mount Pleasant and Jim Krabill of Wayland; one sister, Marilyn Reichman of Roseville, Minn.; and 10 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
