Marchell L. 'Marty' McNevin

Marchell L. "Marty" McNevin, 53 of Wayland, died Sunday, April 13, 2014, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date in Fairfield. The body has been cremated.

In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established to Southeast Iowa Renal Dialysis.

Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel of Mt. Pleasant is assisting with arrangements.

Marchell L. 'Marty' McNevin

Marchell L. "Marty" McNevin, 52, of Wayland, died Sunday, April 13, 2014, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.

A celebration of life will be held at 10:30 a.m. May 3, at First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Fairfield.

In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established to Southeast Iowa Renal Dialysis.

Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel of Mt. Pleasant is assisting with arrangements.

Mrs. McNevin was born Oct. 7, 1960, in Oskaloosa, the daughter of Leslie and Barbara Kay Noel Malin. She married Scott Anthony McNevin April 21, 2000, in Mt. Pleasant.

She moved several times with her father in the military. She graduated from high school in Memphis, Tenn. She attended Memphis State and the University of Tennessee at Martin. She earned degrees in accounting and nursing.

She worked as a registered nurse in various places as a home health and traveling nurse.

She had been employed at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics and at Henry County Health Center.

She enjoyed doing crafts which included scrapbooking and stamping.

Along with her husband, she loved NASCAR, the Indy 500 and going to car races.

An avid Chicago Cubs, Green Bay Packers and Iowa Hawkeye fan, she watched many gaves of her favorite teams.

She was a great cook and wonderful mother. Her four little dachshund "redheads" brought much joy to her life.

Survivors include her husband, Scott, of Wayland; her father Les Malin and spouse Lorainna of Pella; a daughter, Paul Stout and spouse Scott of Mt. Pleasant; and one sister, Mitzi Gellman of Washington, Iowa.

She preceded in death by her mother, Barbara Kay Malin and her grandparents.
