Mary E. Raymond, 94, of Fairfield died this morning, Tuesday, Aug. 19, at SunnyBrook Living Care Center.

Arrangements are pending at the Raymond Funeral Home in Fairfield.

Mary E. Raymond

Mary E. Raymond, age 94, of Fairfield died Tuesday morning at SunnyBrook Living Care Center in Fairfield.

Mary was born October 18, 1919, at Hillsboro, the daughter of Richard F. and Dora B. Swink.

She grew up in Hillsboro and graduated from Fairfield High School in 1938.

Mary married Richard E. Raymond on June 14, 1940 at Warrenton, Missouri.

She was a homemaker and had worked at the United Telephone Company in Fairfield.

She was a member of the First Christian Church in Fairfield, where she served as treasurer and past president of C.W.F.; a member and past president and treasurer of the Fairfield Woman's Club. Mary was a diehard Cubs fan and enjoyed her bridge clubs.

She was one of the founders of the Greater Jefferson County Foundation and served two terms on the board. She was a member of the Fairfield Woman's Club chorus and sang in the church choir.

Deceased family members include her husband Richard on March 16, 1997, her parents, one sister Eva Masden, and 3 brothers: Frank Swink, Harold Swink and a brother in infancy.

Surviving are her son Douglas R. Raymond and wife Elaine of Carver, MA, her daughter Deborah Raymond and husband Nando Schellen of Flagstaff, AZ plus her grandchildren Mark (Karyn) Raymond and Megan (Seth) Johnson and her great grandchildren Nicholas and Alyssa.

Cremation has been accorded as per her wishes.

A Memorial Service will be Saturday, October 18th at 1:00 P.M. at the Raymond Funeral Home in Fairfield. Family members and close friends will speak at the service.

Private family interment will be at the Hillsboro Cemetery at Hillsboro.

A memorial has been established to the Sondheim Center at Hillsboro.

Arrangements are in the care of the Raymond Funeral Home in Fairfield.
