Marie Swan

Marie Swan, 71, Mt. Pleasant, died at 1:23 p.m. Saturday, April 19, 1986, at University Hospitals, Iowa City.

She was born March 24, 1915, at Armington, Ill., to Thomas and Martha Wilder Jones. She married William C. Swan Aug. 28, 1954, at Iowa City.

Mrs. Swan was a registered nurse and had served in the U.S. Army Nurses Corps in World War II and the Korean Conflict.

She was a member of the New London United Presbyterian Church.

Surviving are her husband; a son, Paul, Bemidji, Minn.; five grandchildren; a brother, Kyle Jones, Atlanta, Ill.; and one sister, Dorothy Loveless, Albuquerque, N.M.

Two sisters, Eva and Alice, and one brother, Lawrence, preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 22, at the Elliott Chapel, New London. The Rev. James Edwards will officiate with interment in Burge Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the chapel Monday from 7 to 9 p.m.

A memorial has been established for her church.
