DIED.

Mrs. Nancy Courtney, at her home seven miles northeast of town, October 27th, 1893, at the age of 68 years. she was buried at the old Catholic cemetery Sunday afternoon, October 29th, 1893. Rev. O.W. Rogers officiated.

Mrs. Nancy Rhoaden Courtney was born near Flemingsburg, Kentucky, 1825. Here she remained until she was 21 years of age. She came to Iowa in the year 1846. She lived in this state seven years before she joined her destiny to that of Mr. John Courtney's, which event took place in the year 1853. Since that time they have lived in Henry county. She had been the mother of nine children, "Many of whom remain unto this present, but some have fallen asleep." Mr. and Mrs. Courtney were members of the Catholic church.

Mr. Courtney as confined to his bed by reason of an accident in which he was injured some three weeks ago. He was not able to leave his bed to take a last look at the remains of his dear dead, which fact added greatly to the sadness of the occasion.

A large number of neighbors and friends gathered at the house to show their respect for the departed. The singing by a quartette was excellent and appropriate.
