Edw. Louthan Is Killed
Victim of Accident In Germany

A letter from their son, Roy, brought the word today to Mr. and Mrs. Walter Louthan, Hospital avenue, Mount Pleasant, that their other son, Edward, had been killed in Germany.

He was killed at Nuremberg on July 23. His brother, Roy, wrote that he received word that he had been killed, went to Nuremburg the following day and learned that Edward and another soldier were unloading a truck load of black powder when it exploded. Persons in the vicinity had no idea why the explosion occurred.

Burial will be in France, according to Roy’s letter which was written on July 26. He obtained Edward’s personal belongings and will send them back home.

Edward was a Mt. Pleasant high school graduate and played football. Besides the parents and brother, a sister, Mrs. Kenneth Lee of Batavia, survives.

Edward and Roy had been together on two occasion at least, since going overseas. The last time was only a few weeks ago while Edward was hospitalized after receiving injuries from a hand grenade.
