WAYLAND NEWS – May 25,1922

OBITUARY:

Fannie E. Boshart Laws was born July 28, 1862 at Tavistock in Perth Co., Ontario, Canada. She died in the hospital at Iowa City May 16, 1922 at the age of 59 years, 9 months, and 18 days. She was united in marriage to B. F. Laws April 6, 1881. To this union four children were born: Minnie at home with her parents, Katie Laws Widmer residing near Wayland, Irvin L. who lives on the home farm, and Alvin R. of Fairfield, Iowa.

She united with the Amish Mennonite church at the age of 17. Later she joined the Mennonite church at Eicher. She was a devoted wife, a loving and patient mother, and a faithful Christian. She was resigned to the will of her God through all of her illness.

She had been ill for about three and a half months previous to her death. She was taken to the hospital at Iowa City May 7, where she underwent an operation which seemed at first to be successful, but her strength gradually gave away and on the morning of the 16th, she yielded to the call of the Great Harvester. Her father, Peter E. Boshart, died about 25 years ago, and her mother, Catherine Erb Boshart, died about 16 years ago. One brother and four sisters preceded her in death.

She leaves to mourn her loss a husband, two daughters, and two sons, one brother, Menno E. Boshart of Wayland, Iowa, one sister, Mrs. Lydia Seberg of Noble, Iowa, 6 grandchildren and a large company of friends and neighbors.
Life is real! Life is earnest!
And the grave is not its goal;
Does thou art to dust returnest
Was not spoken of the soul.
