Mrs. Magdalena Miller, daughter of Peter and Catherine Miller, was born at Belfort France on December 18, 1845. She peacefully passed away from the infirmities of old age at the home of her daughter, Mrs. P. P. Wyse in Wayland, Iowa on October 6, 1934. She attained the ripe old age of 88 years, 9 months, and 18 days. In 1849 her parents immigrated to America and settled on a farm near Archbold, Fulton County, Ohio where they resided for about 15 years. In the spring of 1865 they moved to Iowa. The first year they lived on a farm in Washington County and then moved to a farm near Olds in Henry County. Soon after their arrival in Iowa, the family united with the Eicher Mennonite Church of which she remained a faithful member until her death.

In January 1871 she was joined in the bonds of holy matrimony with John G. Miller. This union was blessed with 3 sons and 1 daughter. After their marriage they moved to Washington, Illinois, where they resided for about two years. When they came back they moved to a farm near Olds where they lived till the death of her husband on March 18, 1909. Since that time she has been staying with her children making her home with her daughter, Mrs. Ella Wyse, of Wayland. She leaves to mourn her departure 3 sons, Joseph W., Frank, and Samuel J. all of Olds, Iowa, and one daughter, Mrs. P. P. Wyse of Wayland, 11 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, 1 brother Michael of Olds, and many other relatives and friends. Mrs. Miller experienced the trials and hardships of early pioneer life on the prairies but her faith and trust in her loving Heavenly Father sustained her. Her desire to go home to be with her Lord has now been granted to her. We have the assurance that all who meekly bear their cross here shall wear the kingly purple there. Interment at Eicher cemetery.
