PASSED AWAY VERY SUDDENLY
WELL KNOWN COLORED RESIDENT ANSWERS LAST CALL TUESDAY AFTERNOON.
MR. JAMES WICKS
Had Resided Here For Many Years - Highly Respected By All Who Knew Him - Owned A 160 Acre Farm-Funeral Friday. One of the best known colored residents of the city, Mr. James Wicks, passed away quite suddenly Tuesday afternoon at his home in the west part of the city. The deceased, who was about seventy years of age, was a well known character and very highly respected. He owned a 160 acre farm near Rome and has raised a large family. Tuesday morning he was passing by the drug store on N. Main street and told Dr. Smith, who was standing outside, that he guessed he must have some medicine as he was not feeling well and was suffering from asthma. He then made an appointment to see the Doctor at some future date. Later in the afternoon he was taken seriously ill and passed away practically without any warning. He leaves to mourn his loss a widow and several children.
