OBITUARY

William Harvey Swartzendruber was born November 8, 1875 in Iowa County, Iowa and died at his late home near Kalona, Iowa April 28, 1927 age 51 years, 5 months, and 10 days. December 1st, 1896, he was united in marriage to Sarah Freyenberger of Wayland, Iowa who with her children, Grace, Roy, and Emerson at home and Lloyd of Wayland, Iowa are left to mourn the death of husband and father.

The immediate relatives besides these are one grandson, five sisters, Mrs. William Eicher of Wayland, Iowa, Mrs. J. K. Yoder, Mrs. Dan Miller, and Mrs. John Y. Yoder of the Wellman community, and Mrs. J. A. Boller of Kalona. Also four brothers, Chris J., Eli, John and Joe L. all of the Wellman community and a host of near relatives and friends mourn his death.

The cause of his death was a fibro sarcoma developing from an injury 30 years ago while working in the timber. While this caused him no special trouble until about six years ago, when it began to develop, the best medical skill was consulted, but none of which gave him any promise of help or relief upon which he resigned himself to Him who doeth all things well. He bore his affliction patiently, was never heard to complain which drew the sympathy of all the met him and knew him.

At the age of 21 he accepted Christ, unit\ing with the East Union Mennonite Church and was a consistent member until his death.

Several months ago when he realized that the end was not far distant, he requested communion which privilege he enjoyed.

Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon from the East Union Mennonite Church and burial in the cemetery near by, conduced by the Rev. Simon Gingerich from Wayland and D. J. Fisher, Pastor of the East Union congregation.
