MILLS RITES HELD THURSDAY AT SALEM CHURCH

Salem, Ia. - The funeral services for Mrs. John Mills of Tallulah, La., was held from the Salem Methodist church, Thursday afternoon. The Rev. Mr. Poole of the Tallulah, Methodist church officiated.

Mattie Clyde White, daughter of Thomas and Rebecca White was born near Salem, on March 10, 1891, and died at the Vicksburg hospital, Miss., twenty miles from her home town, Tallulah, La., March 16, aged 50 years. She received her education in the Salem schools.

On March 31, 1909, she was united in marriage to John A. Mills to whom were born nine children. One son, Robert Layton preceded his mother in death at the age of five years. The surviving are her husband, John Mills, the children, Winifred, [Mrs. John Hoogland] of Omega, La., Erma [Mrs. Myron Bailey] of Simpson, La., Arthur and Ralph stationed in the army at Savannah, Ga.; Warren, in the Army Air Corps at Kansas City, Mo., Joe, Richard and Daniel at home in Tallulah, La., five grandsons. Her mother, Mrs. Rebecca White of near Salem, and brothers and sisters Mrs. Dillavou, Mrs. Florence Garretson, Fred White, Roy White, Ralph White, Mrs. Gladys King all of the Salem community; Mrs. Leota Morrison of Mt. Union, Mrs. Myrtle Spray of Hillsboro, Dr. George White of Riverside, and Darrel White of Ames.
