William L. 'Bill' Taylor

William L. "Bill" Taylor, 79, of Lake Wales, Fla., died Tuesday, Oct. 3, 2001, at St. Joseph Medical Center, Kansas City, Mo.

The Mount Moriah and Freeman Chapel, which can be contacted at (816) 942-2004, was in charge of arrangements.

The family suggests that memorials be made to the Alzheimers Association.

Mr. Taylor was born Jan. 2, 1922, in Mount Pleasant, the son of Howard and Della Taylor. He married Betty L. Hall Nov. 27, 1941, in Cedar Rapids.

He served in the United States Navy during World War II.

He was a machinist. He was self-employed for many years and had a business in Fairfield. After retiring, he lived in Florida for 13 1/2 years.

He was a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Karen Jones and her husband of Rock Island, Ill., and Sally Lewis and her husband of Boynton Beach, Fla.; one sister, Violet Pearce of Fairfield; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
