Earl Barton

Earl Barton, 87, Hillsboro, died unexpectedly Friday, Dec. 10, 1982, at 9:10 a.m. at his home.

He was born Oct. 21, 1895, in the Round Prairie Community south of Lockridge, the son of Samuel and Ella Lee Barton. On March 2, 1921, at Mt. Pleasant, he married Leah McDowell.

A retired farmer, Mr. Barton was a member of the Hillsboro Baptist Church.

Surviving are his wife; two sons, Gene Barton, Hillsboro, and Donald McDowell, Wever, a daughter, Mrs. Robert (Marilyn) Hahn, Sigourney; a brother, the Rev. Dale Barton, Mt. Pleasant; two sisters, Mrs. Susie McWilliams, Knoxville, Ill. and Mrs. Tom (Mary) McElwee, Mt. Pleasant; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

His parents, a sister, Alice McElwee, and a brother, J.F. Barton, preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, Dec. 12, at 2 p.m. at the Hillsboro Baptist Church. The Rev. Robert Buchanan will officiate with interment in the Hillsboro Cemetery.

Friends may call as they desire after 1 p.m. Saturday at the Beatty Funeral Home, Mt. Pleasant.
