Brian Lee Breuer, 9, Dies In Farm Accident

Brian Lee Breuer, 9 years old Hillsboro boy, was fatally injured Friday, June 28, in a power mower accident at his farm home.

Brian, son of Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Breuer, was dead upon arrival at the Henry County Memorial Hospital in Mt. Pleasant.

The youth was riding on a tractor driven by his brother, Allen, 14. He fell in front of the mower being pulled by the tractor.

Funeral services for Brian Lee Breuer, 9, R.R. Hillsboro, were held on Monday, July 1, 1968, at 1:30 P.M. at the Salem Congregational Church with Rev. Paul T. Hughes, pastor of the church officiating.

Music was provided by Mrs. Gordon Watts, organist. Bearers were Dale Miller, Marvin Miller, Duane Peterson and Randall Balzer. Interment was in the Memorial Park Cemetery, Burlington, Iowa. The Beatty Funeral Chapel, Salem was in charge of arrangements.

Brian Lee was fatally injured on his parents' farm Friday morning, June 28, when he fell from a tractor being operated by an older brother into the path of a rotary mower. He was rushed to Memorial Hospital at Mt. Pleasant where he was dead on arrival.

He was born May 25, 1959 at Burlington, Iowa, the son of Hugh and Phyllis Breuer.

He attended the Hillsboro Elementary School and the Congregational Church in Salem. He was a member of the Hillsboro Cub Scouts.

He is survived by his parents, two sisters Linda and Luan; two brothers, Alan and Bruce, all at home; his maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Martin Balzer of Burlington; a great-grandmother, Mrs. Estella Kennedy, West Burlington, and many aunts, uncles and cousins. His paternal grandparents preceded him in death.

A Memorial Fund in memory of Brian Lee has been established to the Salem Congregational Church. Memorials may be left at the church office or at the Beatty Funeral Chapel in Salem.
