Higgins funeral set Tuesday

Helen Higgins, 85, Parkview Care Center, died at 10:34 p.m. Thursday, June 23, 1988, at Parkview Care Center. She was born Sept. 4, 1902, in Mount Pleasant, the daughter of Henry M. Morrow and Catherine Hennessey.

She married James A. Higgins on Dec. 31, 1923, at Mount Pleasant. She had worked for 17 years at the Mental Health Institute in Mount Pleasant and for several years at the Temple Theater. She was a member of the St. Alphonsus Church in Mount Pleasant.

She is survived by one son, James M., Fairfield; and one daughter, Barbara Pixley, McLean, Va.; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one brother, Frank, Roland Heights, Calif.; and one sister, Nell C. Keeley, Cedar Rapids.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Catherine L. Trunk.

The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the St. Alphonsus Church with the Rev. Thomas Spiegel officiating. Burial will be in the St. Alphonsus Cemetery in Mount Pleasant. The rosary will be said at 7 p.m. Monday at the Weir Funeal Home where visitation will follow. A memorial has been established to the St. Alphonsus Church.
