John H. Summers, 89, retired New London farmer, died at 10:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 16, in St. Francis Continuation Care Center.

He was born Sept. 13, 1894, to Harry and Florence Cook Summers, at New London, where he married Gladys Heater on Dec. 14, 1916; she died July 29, 1976.

Mr. Summers was a member of First Church of Christ.
Surviving: Son, Wendell, Hillsboro; sister, grace Hennesee, Mt. Pleasant; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Funeral: 11a.m. Wednesday at the Elliott Chapel, the Rev. Rodney Cooper; Burge Cemetery. A memorial to the Chruch of Christ has been established.
