Mrs. Beulah Hayes

MT. PLEASANT - Mrs. Beulah Hayes, 85, of 400 W. Clay, Mt. Pleasant, died at 12:20 p.m. Monday, Oct. 17, at Henry County Health Center.

She was born Sept. 19, 1892, near Glasgow, the daughter of Samuel and Mary Hulse Billingsley. On April 13, 1918, she married Columbus F. Hayes at Ayer, Mass.

A graduate of Iowa Wesleyan academy and Iowa Wesleyan college, she taught school at Elk Point, S.D., and New London and was a member of First United Methodist church, Phi Beta Phi alumni, Tri T, United Methodist Women and Mt. Pleasant Women's club.

Surviving: Two sons, Edward, Des Moines, and Warren, Lake Forest, Ill.; two daughters, Mrs. Carol Egli, Costa Mesa, Calif., and Martha Hayes, New York City; brother, Samuel Billingsley, Glasgow; sister, Mrs. Thelma Monfort, Altoona; 11 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral: 10:30 a.m. Thursday, First United Methodist church, Dr. Robert P. Robinson; Forest Home cemetery. Memorials have been established to Iowa Wesleyan college, Mt. Pleasant public library, or First United Methodist church. Body is at Weir-Cookes Funeral Home.
