Alice Daniel

Alice Daniel, 93, of Des Moines, died Monday, Jan. 7, 2002, in her home.

Mrs. Daniel was born Aug. 18, 1908, on a farm half mile south of Finley Chapel in Henry County, the daughter of Lincoln and Sarah Earnst Noble. She married Mitchel Daniel June 7, 1944.

She graduated from Maple Grove School, and attended Wayland High School until the family moved to Fairfield. Alice graduated from Fairfield High School, Parson's College and the University of Iowa with a master's degree. She taught a number of years at Blairstown; Mount Holyoke, Mass.; and Drake University in Des Moines. She won prizes at the Iowa State Fair for her tatting.

She was a 50-year member of the National TTT Society, and was active until her death, in her Des Moines chapter, where she served as past president. She also was a member of the math society at Drake University.

Survivors include her husband; one daughter Sarah Jarabek and husband Jeffrey of Cape Coral, Fla.; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Elmer and Myron Noble; and three sisters Mable Josslyn, Grace Noble and Elsie Laws.
