Martha ANDERSON dies at 77

Martha Elizabeth ANDERSON, 77, Route 1, Fairfield, died at 10:45 a.m. Saturday at the Jefferson County Hospital.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Raymond Funeral Home. The Rev. Charles Kincaid will officiate and burial will be in Center Cemetery east of Wayland.

Visitation will be from 7 to 8:30 p.m. this evening at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Cancer Research Program at the University Hospitals in Iowa City as requested by Mrs. Anderson.

Martha Elizabeth ANDERSON was born Jan. 28, 1908, at Olds. She was the daughter of August and Carrie HAUENSTEIN SODERGREN. She was reared and educated in the Olds community where she graduated from high school.

She attended Iowa State College and graduated from Iowa Wesleyan College in 1963 after which she taught school at Toddville, Stanwood, Crawfordsville, Wyman and Mount Pleasant. She served as a special education teacher at Mount Pleasant.

She was married Dec. 5, 1932, to Elsworth ANDERSON at Elizabeth, Ill. They lived in the Olds community until moving to Fairfield in 1969.

Mrs. Anderson was a meber of the First Christian Church, she was acitve inn Farm Bureau Women in Henry and Jefferson counties, and was a member of the Ebenezer Club.

She is survived by her husband, one son and wife, Richard and Jean ANDERSON, Gananna, Ohio; a daughter and husband, Elva and Norman WATERS, Fairfield; a daughter-in-law and six grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, her parents, one sister and two children in infancy.
