Leslie G. Scarff Taken By Death

Leslie G. Scarff, 67, died at Memorial Hospital about 8:50 p.m. Thursday, September 16, following a lingering illness.

The son of John Reuben and Lula (Messer) Scarff, he was born November 23, 1987 in Henry county, where he lived all his life, engaged in farming. He was a member of the United Missionary Church of Trenton.

On January 12, 1931 he was married to Freda Bates, who survives.

Also surviving are two sons and two daughters, Glenn E. Scarff of Knox City, Mo., Raymond G. Scarff of Mt. Pleasant, Mrs. Virgil (Evelyn) Graber of Elkhart, Ind., Mrs. Louis (Bernice) Engelhard of Marceline, Mo.; 18 grandchildren;Five brothers, Harry Scarff, Homer Scarff and Larry Scarff, all of Mt. Pleasant, Edwin Scarff of Burlington and Maurice Scarff of Gardena, Calif.

His parents, two sisters and one brother predeceased him.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, September 20, at the Trenton United Missionary Church. Rev. Marvin Engbrecht of Lincoln, Nebr., district superintendent of the Unite Missionary Church, and Rev. Donald Crosley, pastor of the Trenton United Missionary Church, will officiate.

Interment will be in Forest Home Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at R. K. Crane Funeral Home Saturday evening from 7 to 9.

Friends who desire may contribute to a church memorial for Mr. Scarff.
