J. Emil Scarff

J. Emil Scarff, 78, 600 W. Henry, Mount Pleasant, died unexpectedly Tuesday, April 27, 1982, at his residence.

He was born January 11, 1904 near the White Oak area in Henry County, the son of Francis G. and Susan J. Kinney Scarff. On October 18, 1928, in Mount Pleasant, he married Inez G. Bishop who died August 29, 1972.

Mr. Scarff farmed near Oakland Mills his entire life.

Surviving are four daughters: Mrs. Oren (Thelma) Crow of Sperry; Mrs. Stan (Karole) Miller of Wayland; Mrs. Loy (Cynthia) Lollar of Lockridge; and Mrs. Edwin (Jean) Leichty of Villisca; one sister Mrs. Lawrence (Ethel) Cash of Mount Pleasant; 12 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren.

His parents, an infant daughter, Emily Sue, and two infant brothers also preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, April 30, at the Weir Funeral Home, Mount Pleasant, the Rev. Henry Ledbetter of the Oakland Mills church will officiate with interment in Forest Home Cemetery.

Friends may call as they desire after noon Thursday at the funeral home. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday. A memorial has been established for the Oakland Mills Church.
