Cecil Milks

Cecil L. Milks, 89, of Mount Pleasant died Wednesday, Dec. 22, 2010, at the Park Place Long Term Care Unit, in Mount Pleasant. Born Feb. 24, 1921, in Rome, Iowa, she was the daughter of Clem A. and Lottie May (Messer) Sammons. On May 6, 1939, she married Gilbert Foster Milks in Kahoka, Mo. He died Oct. 3, 1988.

Mrs. Milks had been a C.N.A. for Henry County Health Center from 1955 to 1983, primarily in O.B. and later in Long Term Care. She attended Rome Elementary, Mount Pleasant Jr. High School, and Southeastern Community College.

She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and Women of the Moose. She enjoyed bingo, knitting, crocheting, quilting, cooking, baking and gardening.

Survivors include four sons, Larry Milks and Roger Milks, both of Mount Pleasant, Ronnie Milks of Panora and Kent Milks of Quincy, Ill.; one daughter, Linda Knoop of Mount Pleasant; one brother, Gerald Sammons of Mount Pleasant; one sister, Mrs. Esther Rouse of Mount Pleasant; 14 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one daughter, three brothers and three sisters.

Visitation will be from noon to 9 p.m. Monday at Kimzey Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m.

The funeral service for Mrs. Milks will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Calvary Baptist Church in Mount Pleasant, with the Pastor Earl Swigart officiating. Burial will be in Forest Home Cemetery.

A memorial has been established for Calvary Baptist Church.
