Steven H. Messer, 28, San Diego, Calif., and former Mt. Pleasant resident, died Jan. 1, 1992 near Alpine, Calif.

He was born Sept. 16, 1963, at Mt. Pleasant, the son of Howard L. and Miriam Lamm Messer.

A. 1982 graduate of Hempstead High School, Dubuque, he attended Iowa State University, Ames, and Loras College, Dubuque. He worked as a security guard in the Los Angeles area.

Survivors include his mother, Mrs. Douglas (Miriam) Smith, Bemidji, Minn.; two brothers, Rob. H., Des Moines, and Ted M., Salt Lake City, Utah; and one sister, Mrs. Gregg (Pamela) Nevens, Los Angeles, Calif.

Preceding him in death were his grandparents; father; and one sister, Sandra Messer.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, March 30, in the chapel at Forest Home Cemetery, Mt. Pleasant, with Rev. Larry Mitchell officiating. Interment will be held on the family plot in the cemetery.

Friends may call to sign the register beginning at noon Sunday, March 29, at Weir Funeral Home.

A memorial has been established to the National Alliance for Research of Schizophrenia and Depression. (NARSAD)
