Wayne Klopfenstein

Wayne L. Klopfenstein, 60, Route 1, Mt. Pleasant, died at 9:46 a.m. Saturday, April 15, 1986, at University Hospitals, Iowa City.

He was born Nov. 11, 1925, northwest of Mt. Pleasant in Henry County to David and Elsie E. Ballard Klopfenstein. On April 25, 1945, at Anniston, Ala., he married Phyllis I. Lane, who survives.

Mr. Klopfenstein served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He then returned to Mt. Pleasant, working for Swift & Co., after which he managed Benner Tea Co., store until 1954. He became a licensed agent with the State Bond and Mortgage Co., until 1974. He was an agent for Life Investor's Insurance Co. at Cedar Rapids for 12 years, serving northeast Missouri, Illinois and Iowa in estate planning. For six years he was vice-president of the Midwest Computerized Estate Planning Inc.

Mr. Klopfenstein was a member of the First United Methodist Church, American Legion Post No. 58, the Masonic Lodge No. 8, A.F.& A.M., Mt. Pleasant. He was a 32 degree Mason in the Scottish Rite Consistory and a member of the KAABA Shrine, Davenport. He had served as treasurer for the Henry County Benefited Fire District Board for many years. He was on the President's Cabinet of Life Investor's Insurance Co., and was a member of the US Life "Blue Blazer" Club with all American Insurance. He was a member of the Southeast Iowa Life Underwriters and the National Association of Security Dealers for many years.

Surviving are his wife, rural Mt, Pleasant; a daughter, Mrs. James (Jody) Miller, West Des Moines; two sons, John D. Mt. Pleasant and Ted L., rural Mt. Pleasant; two grandchildren; one brother, Stace, Burlington; and three sisters, Miss June Klopfenstein, Mt. Pleasant; Mrs. Warren (Wanda) White, Avon. Ill.; and Mrs. Ivan (Verlee) Ryan, DeForest, Wis.

His parents and one ?---------?, Phillip Wayne preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 9, at the First United Methodist Church, Mt. Pleasant, with the Rev. George White officiating. Interment will be held in Forest Home Cemetery.

Friends may call as they desire beginning at noon Monday at the Weir Funeral Home where Masonic services will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday by the Mt. Pleasant Masonic Lodge No. 8.

The family will receive friends following the Masonic service until 8:30 p.m. Memorials have been established to the Hillcrest Children's Home, Dubuque, or the Shrine Cripples Children's Hospital.
