Bessie Jennings

Mrs. Edward (Bessie) Jennings, 79, route 3 died at Henry County Memorial Hospital, Mt. Pleasant, at 8:40 a.m. Monday morning June 24, 1974.

She was born April 25, 1895, in Trenton, the daughter of Thomas A. and Elvira J. McCullum Black.

On Dec. 3, 1913, she was married to Edward Jennings in Mt. Pleasant. He died Jan. 28, 1964.

Surviving are seven sons, Homer of Glasgow, Donald, Melvin, Ralph and John all of Mt. Pleasant, Tom of Hillsboro, and Elmer of Fairfield; daughters, Mrs. Russell (Ruth) Parker of Mt. Pleasant, Mrs. Kenneth (Evelyn) Miller of Hedrick, Mrs. Arthur (Leah) Lane of Burlington, Mrs. Ina Coburn, Mrs. R. W. (Edith) Bonser and Mrs. R. O. Weigert, all of Mt. Pleasant; 39 grandchildren, 78 great grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Homer Black of Blencoe, Iowa.

One daughter, five brothers, six sisters, one granddaughter and her parents preceded her in death.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Mt. Pleasant. Interment will be in Forest Home Cemetery.
