Brian Gray

Born Jan. 18, 1941, in Henry County, he was the son of Orie A. and Della V. Kirkpatrick Gray. On Sept. 22, 1963, he married Donna Gholson in Mount Pleasant.

Mr. Gray worked at the Bell Gas Station in Salem, then at DJ Martin Gas Station in Mount Pleasant. He was an auto body technician for Shafer Motors and remained with them when it became McWhirter's. He worked for Morris Fitch Auto Body until he became disabled.

He was a lifelong resident of Henry County and graduated from Salem High School in 1959. He was a member of St. Michael's Episcopal Church and the Salem Saddle Club. He was a founding member of the Henry County Rescue Squad and a former member of the Mount Pleasant Men's Bowling League. He helped his dad farm, was an avid Chicago Cubs baseball fan, and enjoyed breaking horses and playing baseball and basketball, gardening, hunting and fishing.

Survivors include his wife; one daughter, Kim Gray of Burlington; one son, Tim Gray of Detroit; two sisters, Lana Zihlman and Peggy Dodds, both of Mount Pleasant; one brother, Richard Gray of Glendale, Ariz., and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.

Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. today at the Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m.

A Requiem Holy Eucharist will be said Tuesday at 10 a.m. at St. Michael's Episcopal Church in Mount Pleasant. Burial will be in the Forest Home Cemetery.

Memorials have been established for St. Michael's Episcopal Church and to the Iowa Chapter of the Multiple Sclerosis Society.
