Reuben Cronin

GALESBURG, ILL --- Ruben E. (Red) Cronin, 77, Galesburg, Ill. died Tuesday, January 13, 1981 at the Cottage Hospital, Galesburg.

He was born Dec. 6, 1903 at Mt. Pleasant, the son of John F. and Mary C. Scarff Cronin. On Aug. 30, 1925 at married Mary M. Scarff who survives.

Mr. Cronin was a conductor for the C. B. & Q. and Burlington Northern Railroad on the Galesburg to Denver route for 44 years until his retirement. He attended the First United Methodist Church in Galesburg.

Surviving in addition to his wife of Galesburg are; one son, Robert E. Cronin, Richmond, Wa.; three sisters, Grace Mussell, Cedar Rapids, Mrs. Harold (Margaret) Greer, Mt. Pleasant and Mrs. Robert (Marcella) Heston, Burlington; three grandchildren; seven great grandchildren.

His parents and two sisters preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 16, at Weir Funeral Home, Mt. Pleasant. The Rev. Terry Clark and Father Paul Alberts will officiate with interment in Forest Home Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 15, at the funeral home. Friends may call as the desire after noon Thursday.
